St. Joseph and Our Lady of Guadalupe – Del Rio

On March 22, the Legion of Mary of the Del Rio Catholic Community began their special day at the 10:30 a.m. Mass celebrated by their Spiritual Director Father Antonio O. Moreno at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church; with the active and auxiliary Legion of Mary members processing into Church with their banner.

After Mass Father Moreno gave a special blessing to all the active and auxiliary members who were in attendance.

Then at 3:00 p.m. the Acies ceremony and reception was held at St. Joseph Church Parish Hall.

The Acies ceremony is the annual consecration to Our Lord Jesus Christ through the intercession of The Blessed Virgin Mary.

Approximately 70 active and auxiliary Legion of Mary members attended.

The bilingual ceremony began with the opening hymn “Ave de Lourdes” followed by the Legion of Mary prayers with the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary and then Father Moreno gave a presentation on the meaning and merits of being a Legion of Mary member.

This was followed by the Legionary Promise being made by three new active members and then the Individual Act of Consecration: “I am all Yours, my Queen, my Mother, and all that I have is Yours” was pledged by all the active and auxiliary members.

Father Moreno recited the Group Act of Consecration and the ceremony concluded with the closing hymn “Adiós, Reina del Cielo”.

Everyone attending wore a bright aqua colored ribbon with the picture of The Annunciation.

This year the Legion of Mary celebrated their 68th anniversary (1947-2015).

At the reception everyone enjoyed a delicious plate of spaghetti, garlic bread, tossed salad and a piece of celebratory cake.
