January 27, 2015: Little Handmaid Cenacle with Lectio Divina

Dear little handmaids and friends,

Next Tuesday, January 27, 2015, will be our Little Handmaids Cenacle for this month. It will be from 5:30 until 7:30 in of the CCD classrooms at St. Joseph.

At that cenacle we will begin a new plan for our spiritual growth, and next month we will increase the cenacles to twice a month: on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.

At the cenacles, which are two hours long, we will spend the first half hour in Marian devotion, usually reading and reflecting on a paragraph from St. Louis de Montfort's True Devotion to Mary. After all, it is through Mary that we come into a deeper relationship with Jesus, so we approach our time with the Lord by nurturing our bond with Mary, His Mother and ours.

For the rest of the two hours we will practice lectio divina, a means to listen to the Lord while we are reading and pondering Scripture. This is a method of contemplative prayer that I have practiced off and on for 15 years. Since December 26 I have been practicing it every day, and it is changing my life. Through the Holy Spirit "connection" that I receive so deeply in the morning, I am able to remain connected to Jesus all day.

Do you hunger for a deeper intimacy with Jesus? Lectio divina is a beautiful path to that intimacy. If you would like to learn to practice lectio divina, you are welcome to come to our cenacle. You don't have to be a Little Handmaid, nor to become one.

Mary's daughter, in the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
Cami
